UK-Glenrothes: construction work for houses
Fife Council affordable housing new build programme - Castle Road, Rosyth. Fife's local housing strategy aims to ensure that everyone in Fife has access to an affordable, warm, secure well-maintained home appropriate to their needs. To assist in meeting this aim the strategic housing investment plan 2010-2011 states that Fife Council has identified clear scope to invest 21 000 000 GBP in council housing over the next 4 years through its business plan. Fife Council recently secured 1.425 million GBP towards the next phase of its rolling programme from the Scottish Government's Kick Start Council Housing budget. This will provide 57 new houses in Castle Road, Rosyth (35 units) and Monks Moss, Ladybank (22 units). The land at Castle Road, Rosyth is identified for residential development in the Dunfermline and West Fife local plan. The development of this site will complete the growth of the Castlandhill area, and contribute to the regeneration of the town. The site is currently owned by Fife Council and amounts to 1,2 hectares. The Council has decided to develop this land as part of their new build programme for affordable social housing. The development of this site will provide 35 affordable housing units, with a mixture of one and 2 storey general needs, ambulant disabled and wheelchair housing. A breakdown of the confirmed housing mix is below. 12 x 2 bed/4 person 2 storey general needs houses; 12 x 3 bed/5 person 2 storey general needs houses; 2 x 2 bed/4 person single storey wheelchair houses; 4 x 2 bed/4 person single storey amenity houses; 3 x 4 bed/7 person 2 storey general needs houses 2 x 3 Bed/5 person single storey wheelchair houses. Outline design proposals have been developed and a site investigation and topographical survey have been carried out. Based on the outline proposals, a planning application was made on 27th October and an outcome is expected shortly. (planning application reference 09/02661/Full – land to north of Boyle Drive, Rosyth). Both an architect and engineer have been appointed by Fife Council up to outline proposal stage and are to be novated to the successful contractor/developer as part of the contract.
