The management of firefighting personal protective equipment (PPE) for collaborating fire and rescue services within the north west of England & Northern Ireland. Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service is acting on behalf of the North West Fire and Rescue Services Authorities in inviting tenders from suitable licensed organisations wishing to enter into a framework agreement for the collection, inspection, laundry and repair of personal protective equipment, inspection and replacement of other items of fire fighting personal equipment and laundry collection services. The framework agreement will be 2 years initial duration with an option to extend to a further 1 year. i. Cleaning and inspection: all fabric based garments will be laundered and inspected in accordance with this specification. ii. Repairs: following inspection any defects found that can be rectified by the agreed repair process will be carried out. iii. Programmed maintenance: a fit for purpose inspection will be carried out on all PPE at least once per year. A programmed visit to all operational locations will be carried out to inspect other items of PPE i.e. helmets, hoods, gloves, boots. iv. Management: dedicated staff including driver(s) and service representatives will be identified. A full tracking and tracing system will be required either on pooled stock or for personal issue PPE.
