UK-Bristol: gully cleaning and emptying services
Street Gully Cleansing. The City of Bristol which has 1 117 km of highway, is seeking expression of interest from experienced contractors who wish to tender for 3+3 year Gully Contract. The contractor will need to demonstrate that he has the capapility to clean around 32 500 (and above) highway gullies by the use of machine or where necessary by hand to extract all silt, debris such as sticks, stones, tins, syringes, concrete and tarmac and detritus to leave the gully pot and the cover free and clean. Gullies need to be cleansed at specific frequency in normal and busy roads which will need working at weekends, leafleting properties and arranging for removal of parked vehicles by calling at premises to facilitate access to gullies. Gullies shall normally be cleansed at one of three different frequencies according to type and location of gullies; once a year, twice a year or 4 times a year. In addition the cleaning of standard road gullies the following also require cleansing: * Pedestrianised areas with linear drainage such as the Gatic Slot drain, which will need to be cleaned by machine, without causing inconvenience to the public. * Kerb drainage systems such as Beany kerbs. * Aco type channel drainage. Also gullies are located in high speed ways, but aditional safety precautions will be required. An emergency Service (operated 24 hours, 7 days per week), including manual and/or mechanical methods and jetting shall also need to be provided to deal with road traffic accidents, spillage from vehicles, the removal of animal carcasses and other incidents. The council wishes to check and update its gull records and the gully cleansing contractor will be required to record the location of the gully, when it was cleaned and any problems found.
