Special Educational Needs Transport. This tender is for the provision of home to school transport for eligible children with special educational needs who attend a range of special schools, the main ones are listed below. Contracts currently in place for this provision are due to expire at the end of this academic year on 22.7.2011. Northumberland County Council have taken the opportunity to conduct a "clean sheet" route review and the new routes you are being invited to tender for will in many cases bear little resemblance to that which is currently in place. Special educational needs transport is provided for eligible children who are resident in Northumberland but who may attend any one of a number of special schools based both within the county boundaries of Northumberland as well as beyond. Such establishments cater for a wide variety of needs so a child's attendance at a particular school is not determined solely on where they live in proximity to that school. The list of special schools that are served by transport affected by this tender (including full postal addresses) and a brief description of their specialisation is provided below: In-County Special Schools & Units: For children with Moderate Learning Difficulties.
