IRL-Cork: consultative engineering and construction services
Wilton-Lee Road Trunk Main - Consultant Contract. Cork City's current demand for potable water is approximately 70 000 000 litres per day (Ml/d). 48 Ml/d of this demand is supplied by the Cork City Council's Lee Road Water Supply Scheme (LRWSS). The remaining 22 Ml/d is imported from Cork County Council from the Cork Harbour and City Water Supply Scheme (CH&CWSS). Cork City Council now wishes to connect LRWSS and CH&CWSS by providing a strategic link watermain between Lee Road WTP and Chetwynd Reservoir (CH&CWSS). This reservoir is 3 km to the south of Lee Road WTP. The objective of the strategic link watermain is to ensure some security of supply to the city and county's water supplies in the event of an interruption of supply in either system. Several years ago, Cork City Council constructed a 600 mm watermain to provide a link between Chetwynd reservoir and Wilton Roundabout, 1,5 km to the south of Lee Road WTP. It was intended that this watermain would form part of the strategic link. The existing 600 mm watermain is currently used to supply several District Meter Zones serving the Mardyke and Model Farm Road areas. The proposed main will be constructed in an urban area, with several heavily trafficked routes. It is likely that the proposed main will cross at least two rivers. Cork City Council invites expressions of interest from suitably qualified engineering consultants with experience in water supply for appointment as a Consultant for the Cork City Water Supply Scheme (Wilton Lee Road Trunk Main) project. The appointment shall be for the following Stages of the project: i. Preliminary Report Stage; ii. Detailed Design Stage; iii. Tender Action, Evaluation, Award Stage; iv. Construction Stage; v. Handover of Works Stage. The appointed consultant will also be required to act as Project Supervisor Design Process under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act (Construction) Regulations 2006. While the appointment is for all services outlined in Stages (i) to (v) above, initially the Consultant will be appointed for Stage (i) only. Cork City Council may decide to terminate the services of the Consultant at the end of or during any of the above stages, subject to the provisions of the Department of Finance "Standard Conditions of Engagement for Consultancy Services (Technical)", latest version.
