Cleaning services. Kent County Council (the Council) is the largest local authority in England covering an area of 3 500 square kilometres. It has an annual expenditure of over GBP 1bn on goods and services and a population of 1.3 m. The Council provides a wide range of personal and strategic services on behalf of its residents, operating in partnership with 12 district Councils and 289 parish/town councils. Information Services Group (ISG) supports the Council by offering advice and guidance on the use of information technology to maximise the business benefits of current systems and support the delivery of new products and services. The ISG mission statement is "To work collaboratively with the business to deliver value for money ICT products and services which enable the Council to better serve the people of Kent". ISG has responsibility for the strategic direction and management of IS covering enterprise architecture, governance, infrastructure development, investment management, relationships with external bodies/agencies, and delivery of key programmes. The IS operations function has the responsibility for delivering services against our service level agreements to our customers. Within the operations function is the education IS Unit which provides services to schools. As part of the delivery of the above services the Council hosts servers in over 125 locations across the County, providing both local and remote access to applications. A key part in the protection of the infrastructure is the environment in which these services are hosted. In order to maintain the required temperature, humidity, protect against the loss of power and the threat of damage caused by fire, the Council has installed a number of mechanical / electronic systems into key locations. The Council's overall requirement is the provision of preventative maintenance services, the provision of parts and repairs, emergency call outs, new installations and decommissioning of environmental systems as appropriate, within specified premises. This may also include Kent County Council partnership sites. Maintenance, installations and decommissioning will include air-conditioning (conventional / CO2 and water cooled systems), uninterruptible power supplies, generators, fire protection systems, computer room cleaning and any associated electrical or building works. The contract for the generator should also include a call off for the supply of fuel as and when required by the Council with a guaranteed provision within 24 hours. The contract must allow for increases and decreases in the number of systems and sites, which currently stands at 16 sites, including 36 air conditioning units, 1 generator, 11 uninterrupted power supplies and 7 fire protection systems. The contract period is twenty four (24) months with the option to extend the contract period for up to a further twelve (12) months. Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park - Estates and Facilities Management Contract. The Olympic Park Legacy Company Limited ("Legacy Company") is seeking to appoint a contractor ("Contractor") to provide Estates and Facilities Management ("EFM") services to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park ("the Park") and some of its key venues after the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. It is envisaged that key services will include grounds and infrastructure maintenance, building engineering services, building fabric maintenance, cleaning, electronic and manned security, waste management, provision of a helpdesk and estates management. The contract is envisaged to be for an initial period of 10 or 12 years with an option for the Legacy Company to extend by a further 5 years.
