University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) have 3 contrasting environments in Preston, the traditional setting of the main campus in the city centre, UCLan Sports Arena and Westleigh Conference Centre. In the latest People and Planets University Green League for environmental performance UCLan improved its position from 5th spot in 2008 to 4th position in 2009 (out of 119 universities). UCLan is committed to minimising the effect of waste on the environment by a reducing consumption, re-using materials, recycling and, if avoid landfill. In 2009 UCLan produced 603 tonnes of landfill waste however, aims to have zero waste to landfill by December 2012. UCLan are looking to implement a quality general mixed waste collection & disposal service that is vital to the adoption of good environmental practice. UCLan operates a degree of recycling. The HICF enhancements will include the following elements: health informatics career framework content enhancement involving the development and production of health informatics job roles, profiles descriptions and the mapping of career paths and access points; health informatics Learning catalogue content and web development including the creation and maintenance of a free standing online database describing academic and vocational courses and qualifications and suitable experiential learning relevant to health informatics; health informatics career framework online tools development including (but not limited to) the creation of new online tools to enable workforce management, role comparison and individual career planning; and health informatics framework online hosting and service management involving the hosting and management of the HICF on behalf of the Authority.
