UK-Widnes: road bridge construction work
Mersey Gateway Project. The Contracting Authority is looking to enter into a competitive procurement process with a view to awarding a contract for the design, build, finance, maintenance and operation of a new tolled crossing of the River Mersey together with approach roads to the north (Widnes) and south (Runcorn) sides of the river. In addition to these obligations, the successful contractor will carry out tolling on the existing Silver Jubilee Bridge. The duration of the contract is currently envisaged to be 30 years. The Contracting Authority will also consider other commercial arrangements relating to the provision of the bridge and tolling where these can be demonstrated to provide value for money. A contract notice in respect of the project is expected to be published in due course. The Contracting Authority is preparing a Project Information Memorandum (PIM). UK-Richmond: overhaul and refurbishment work
Maintenance & improvement partnership 2011-2015. Richmondshire is one of the largest districts in England. It covers an area of over 500 square miles and has a population of 50 700 (mid year estimate, 2005). It extends from the lowlands of the A1 corridor to the sparsely populated uplands of the Yorkshire Dales. Around two thirds of the district is in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Richmond is the main administrative centre of the district followed by Catterick Garrison, Leyburn, Hawes and Reeth. The Council owns and manages a housing stock of 1 600 properties, most of which are of traditional construction. The Council intends to appoint a single contractor and is now seeking expressions of interest from suitably experienced contractor partners to be invited to tender for the works described below. This programme of works will see the Council commence a new programme of planned replacements for the period 2011-2015. The Council is also keen to market test its responsive repairs service and is considering the transfer of this function to the successful contractor partner, following satisfactory performance and the development of a highly effective mutually beneficial working relationship. For the avoidance of doubt, the decision to transfer the repairs service or not will be at the Council's sole discretion. The work will be divided into 2 lots, one being the planned replacement works and one being the reactive and responsive repair work. The planned replacement works will be allocated annually and will consist of some or all of the following work types: external doors and windows kitchens and bathrooms roofing, soffits, fascias and gutters central heating, including boiler replacements rewiring asbestos removal external painting programme installation of residential sprinklers and residential solar panels The anticipated annual value of these works will be in the region of 1 000 000 GBP and it is expected work will commence in year one no later than 1.8.2011. In addition, the Council has an in-house DLO and stores function delivering its responsive repairs service across the district. The value of work relating to this service is approximately 1 000 000 GBP per annum. The Council may, at its discretion, transfer this service to the successful contractor partner. It is currently envisaged that the form of delivery contract will be a TPC2005. Full details will be set out in the contract documents. It is intended that call-offs shall be made throughout the life of the contract including the final year and may last beyond the life of the contract.
