VEAT for purchase of High End Echocardiography System. This is a Voluntary Ex Ante Transparency ("VEAT") notice. Cardiff University intends to contract with GE Healthcare for the purchase of a High-end Echocardiography System. The requirement is for a high-end full echocardiographic system including phased array continuous wave and linear array transducers capable of performing 2-dimensional, real time 3-dimensional, colour Doppler, tissue Doppler, and processed myocardial velocity imaging. There should be the option for triplane acquisition, and a package for quantitative stress echocardiography. There should also be software for 2-D and 3-D quantification of regional myocardial deformation from speckle, based on tissue signals and not on endocardial wall recognition algorithms. The system should perform tissue tracking, and curved M-mode analyses of parasternal echocardiographic studies. There should be a comprehensive vascular package for measurement of central arterial stiffness and carotid intima media thickness. All the data should be fully downloadable to an image storing system, compatible also with complete acquisition of data from an existing GE vivid 7 echo machine. The proposed imaging solution is the image volt, and the proposed echocardiographic system is the GE E9.
