The Blood Services in the UK and Ireland have a requirement to purchase an arm cleansing system to use on donor sessions to clean the donors arm before a donation is given. The system must confrom to the following properties: The preparation must contain 2 % Chlorhexidine Gluconate and 70 % IPA. The maximum volume of the preparation is 2ml. The preparation must be sterile (suppliers to provide method statements demonstrating sterilisation techniques). The disinfectant procedure must produce a greater than 95 % reduction in bacterial load on the donor arm. Maximum time frame for application of the product must not exceed 30 seconds (plus maximum drying time of 30 seconds). Each preparation must be individually wrapped.
