Our objective is to improve the trusts energy efficiency through various means, including a program of phased replacements of electric motors between 3kW and 30kW to energy efficient class 3. Further benefits are to standardise products. In general, the electric motors used, drive pumps and air handling units supply and extract plant operating 24/7. The overwhelming majority of the existing motive power are general purpose aluminium and cast iron motors, estimated to be in excess of 1 500 throughout both NHS trusts.
