UK-London: police patrol boats
Supply of boats. The Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) has a requirement for two 6 m (approximate) rigid inflatable boats (RIB's), one 12 m (approximate) single hulled launch and one 9-10 m pilot type vessel to carry out policing duties on London's waterways including the river Thames. The vessels need to comply with all relevant requirements of the police boat code (PBC2) and will also be fitted with specialist communication equipment. The vessels will be submitted to prolonged arduous use, so must be suitably robust. To enable rapid deployment, the RIB's shall be supplied with trailers to launch and recover them directly into and out of the water. The craft shall be constructed with a rigid GRP hull and have an internal diesel engine. The RIBs will have a crew of 2 with ability to carry 2 further personnel, plus all relevant life saving equipment. The launch is required as a fast logistical support boat for patrolling and transporting personnel in the lower and middle reaches of the River Thames. The operating environment is primarily fast tidal river and estuary, containing driftwood, debris, flotsam, etc. The fast launch is to be based on a proven planing GRP hull, approximately 12.0 metres in length. Power shall be provided by twin in-board diesel engines. The design shall provide an extended wheel house to accommodate 15 adults with a walk around deck. Berthing for 5 persons is required below deck. This vessel needs to be delivered by mid-2011. One 9-10 m (approximate) pilot type vessel to operate on the upper reaches of the Thames and the canal network around London so minimum wash at low speeds is required. It should also be able to operate twenty miles from a safe haven. It should have a deep V planning GRP hull with spray rails and have a collar (solid foam fender) constructed from closed cell foam with a polyurethane outer coating. The vessel should have an enclosed walk around wheelhouse with toilet, and seating for up to 4 crew and be equipped with twin inboard diesels coupled to drive legs with twin under deck fuel tanks.
