UK-Colchester: social research services
Lineup Migration History of Turks in Europe. Background. A research team comprising researchers from the United Kingdom, Netherlands and Germany is leading the research project 500 Families Migration Histories of Turks in Europe LineUp that has been funded by NORFACE, New Opportunities for Research Funding Agency Co-operation in Europe, a partnership between fourteen research councils to increase co-operation in research and research policy in Europe. The research project aims to reveal the migration patterns and intergenerational transmission of resources, behaviour, values and preferences across four generations of Turks following migration of the first generation to Europe, and to compare these with the resources, values and behaviour of comparable families who did not leave Turkey. To achieve this, the study aims to screen five high-migration sending regions in 1960s to Europe to locate relatives and trace descendants of first generation male emigrants who moved to Europe between 1961 and 1974 and, similarly to trace the descendants of those from the same regions who stayed behind. One of the five areas has already been screened in a pilot study. Following the effective tracing, the study will interview the first generation male emigrants and their non-emigrant counterparts as well as target descendants of the emigrant and non-emigrant families comprising two randomly sampled adult children of the first generation man, for each child two of their adult children and, if existent and above the age of 17, two each of their children, comprising a fourth generation. These target descendants may be found in a European country or in Turkey. Furthermore, one proxy interview about all family members will be conducted with a family member of each family to outline the family tree from each first generation man and key characteristics of members of that tree. In July 2010, a fieldwork pilot was conducted in Sarkisla in Turkey, and collected information on 309 families in total. The screening and data collection strategies in this tender build on the experience and knowledge obtained from this pilot study. Since the pilot study has not been finalized, some of the figures we cite from this study are tentative. CPV: 79315000. ...

NL-Rotterdam: air-rescue services
HEMS Services (Helicopter Emergency Medical Services). To provide HEMS services as described in the tender documents and its associated appendices. Four trauma centres in the Netherlands were given an instruction by the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport to keep a Mobile Medical Team (MMT) ready 24 hours a day. The MMT is deployed in the event of serious accidents and incidents when called out by the ambulance services' alarm centre. A HEMS (Helicopter Emergency Medical Service) helicopter is available for the purpose, plus a road vehicle for when the weather is bad or other specific situations. The first trauma centre to have an MMT helicopter was the VU university medical center (1995), followed by the Erasmus MC (1997), UMC St Radboud (2001) and UMC Groningen (2001). The HEMS helicopter has to take an MMT and the equipment it needs to the location of the incident as quickly as possible. In a number of cases (2-12 %, depending on the trauma region), the patient is currently transported from the incident location to a hospital by helicopter. Patients may be transported by helicopter when this is beneficial to the patient's health and/or when transport by ambulance is less suitable. This is the case when a patient in a critical situation has to be transported over greater distances or when transport by ambulance is impossible due to terrain conditions. The contract with the current provider will terminate at the end of 2011. Three of the four trauma centres – namely VUmc in Amsterdam, Erasmus MC in Rotterdam and UMC St Radboud in Nijmegen – have decided to issue a joint tender for the transport of an MMT and/or patients by helicopter. The principle here is that one provider or a combination of providers should be found, with a single party bearing the final responsibility for the three trauma centres.
