Installation and maintenance of digital TV systems under a systems thinking approach: 2010-2030. Conversion of analogue TV aerial systems to digital TV systems, involving installing an IRS (integrated reception system) within each dwelling that is identified by Flagship Housing Group - to include any work that the IRS (system) would also support. Installation work to the current portfolio of buildings will begin in 2011 and be completed in 2011. Work to also include maintenance work and future-proofing (as and when specifically required by Flagship Housing Group) thereafter of all systems installed under a 20 year leasing arrangement - as provided by the contractor. Work will be in occupied & void properties owned by Flagship Housing Group; comprising a mixture of houses, bungalows, flats and maisonettes, together with 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 storey buildings. The work involved in installing the IRS (integrated reception system) will include the following: providing new "head ends" to communual blocks/dwellings (in general), all wiring and terminal boxes that are required and the removal of existing aerials and dishes. The integrated reception system that is installed will be leased through the contractor. The contractor will therefore be responsible for the provision, maintenance and future-proofing (when requested) of the integrated reception system. Where new properties purchased by the employer already have such IRS (systems) installed, the contractor will need to maintain the said equipment. The contractor will therefore supply, install, test and commission a 5-cable integrated reception system, comprising 4 cables that provide individual IF polarities for the programme requirements and one cable providing terrestrial frequencies between 88MHZ and 862MHZ, through switching devices to a minimum of one position via 2 cables in each dwelling. The installation process will consist of the following: a) Survey; b) Pre-installation/preparation eg. core drilling; c) Installation of antennas and dishes; d) Installation of containment; e) Installation of backbone cables; f) Installation of head-end, including remote located switches and repeater amplifiers etc; g) Connection of backbone and commissioning of system; h) Installation of dual feed "drop- cables" to individual dwellings and connection of new socket-outlets; i) Redundant equipment removed and disposed of in accordance with the employers instructions (as identified in the invitation to tender documentation).
