The aim of BMMP is to reduce poverty by contributing to increased added value and employment in India, South Africa and Vietnam (hereafter called the partner countries). This can be achieved through binding economic co-operation between Norwegian companies and companies in the partner countries. The co-operation shall have a long term character and shall involve transferring capital, expertise, competence and/or technology from Norway to the partner countries. The co-operation is expected to have an element of long term economic obligations for the Norwegian company, which can vary according to the individual company's needs and assumptions. The programme is flexible as regards forms of co-operation. This can be project co-operation (long term and/or major projects), outsourcing, licensing, partnership/joint-venture or trade activities, i.e. import to Norway. On the Norwegian side the programme is mainly applicable to small and medium sized companies which based on their technology and resources (human and financial), as well as already commercialised products, have the potential for a co-operation on a commercial basis with companies in the partner countries. The programme is neutral as regards sector, but will prioritise the following sectors: Maritime, marine, oil and gas, renewable energy, ICT, environment and trade. The assignments for the regional contact points (RKP) will be to identify Norwegian companies which are interested in participating in the programme. The RKP shall lead and assist the company during the whole process from the application until a mutual binding co-operation is signed. In the introduction phase the RKP shall, in co-operation with NKP/NCP investigate the potential for the Norwegian company in the relevant market before the RKP assists the company with the application and company profile. The partner search will be made by NCP in the respective countries. The RKP's task is, together with the company, to assist in the selection of the most interesting potential partner companies.
