UK-Wakefield: hire of goods-transport vehicles with driver
Logistics Management Service - Hospital Moves. Provision of Logistics Management Services – Hospital Moves. The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust is approaching the final stages of commissioning the new PFI hospitals at Pontefract and Pinderfields in Wakefield. Supplier performance is key and absolutely critical in the delivery of this service to enable the hospitals to open on time whilst ensuring minimum disruption to the Trust's delivery of services and patient care established on each site during earlier commissioning phases. Under the contractual arrangements for these projects the Trust has a variety of items of equipment and furniture that are required to be transferred from existing Trust facilities to the new hospitals in a phased approach. The Trust wishes to procure the services of a third party organization with the appropriate skills, human and vehicular resources, locality and experience to provide this service. The logistics provider will be responsible for the installation and maintenance of suitable and adequate protection to the building fabric, finishes and equipment e.g. floors, walls, doors, lifts etc and will be required to install this protection at an early stage in the process and un-install following completion of the scheduled moves. Where requested, the logistics provider must also be capable of providing based within their own site (from which they also intend to deliver the contract) an interim solution for the receipt and secure storage, prior to the transport and installation of new items of non medical equipment / furniture on the new Pinderfields and Pontefract sites. The Trust envisages that the logistics provider will have at its disposal a large team of experienced and trained drivers, supervisors and porters alongside a range of furniture removal vehicles both with and without a tail lift facility. Yorkshire Ambulance will provide patient transfer services across the hospital sites. The logistics provider will be required to work closely with both ambulance staff and the Trust's Medical Physics team to ensure equipment to support each arrival is in situ in a timely manner. As this project is due to commence on January 8th and finish on 25.1.2011 the Trust has assessed as high the risk of service delivery being disrupted by inclement weather and any accompanying disruption to the transport network. To reduce the impact of such risk the Trust will limit the responses it accepts for this procurement to those organizations that already have the previously identified facilities and resources to provide the services listed above and are based within 20 miles of the new Pinderfields hospital site where the main body of the contract is to be performed.
