The Natural History Museum in South Kensington, London, is not only a leading visitor attraction but is one of the world's leading authorities and research institutes in natural history. The Mineralogy Department is one of its 5 scientific departments and houses a significant proportion of the Museum's analytical facilities in the Electron Microscopy and Mineral Analysis (EMMA) Division. The fundamental aim of EMMA Division is to meet, to a standard of international excellence, the research and curatorial requirements in electron microscopy and chemical analysis of scientific staff in both the earth and life science departments.
