Mental health supported housing scheme. Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust is tendering for a social care provider who will work in close partnership with the Trust, to provide supported accommodation for adults with complex mental ill health backgrounds which will commonly, have led them into conflict with the criminal justice system. The scheme will be provided from modern refurbished estate that the social care provider will lease from the Trust which will accommodate 18 adult men. The aim of this service is to provide high support, high quality accommodation that enable service users to gain and retain the skills necessary to live as independently as possible by promoting independent living skills and promoting social inclusion. It will promote social inclusion through a combination of support, and access to community facilities, work experience, training and employment support. It will: A: Provide a safe, welcoming, good standard of supported accommodation; B: The provider team will contribute to the monitoring of behaviour and feed into regular reviews by the visiting psychiatric services; C: Support service users to manage risks in a way that reduces the likelihood of harm without reducing opportunities or impairing quality of life; D: Provide appropriate and flexible services that will enable the individual to develop skills to live independently in the community and promote active engagement in meaningful activities including employment, education and training; E: Support people to maintain or develop skills to live successfully in their accommodation including: budgeting, rent payments, dealing with landlords, neighbour disputes, and anti social behaviour; F: Promote optimum health, wellbeing and quality of life to maximise independence; G: Make frequent and persistent efforts to engage while respecting individual choices; H: Support service users in the development and management of positive relationships with others; I: Support service users gain a sense of well being and present themselves in a positive and effective manner; J: Provide support for service users to identify and address any health needs and/or social care needs through health promotion, access to health and social care services; K: Assist people to access appropriate specialist services, such as drug treatment or statutory mental health services; L: Identify opportunities for move-on to appropriate accommodation and make appropriate referrals/enquiries as necessary. Organisations wishing to tender for this work will need a minimum track record of three years managing specialist mental health services; 3 years working in partnership with an RSL and 3 years delivering services under the Supporting People programme. The service will be based in the Royal Borough of Greenwich and predominantly be providing care to service user from Greenwich, Bexley or Bromley, it is therefore desirable that any provider has an existing network with the borough.
