22/02/2012 tenders 130

DK-Copenhagen: laboratory, optical and precision equipments (excl. glasses)
Purchase of a cryogen free dilution cryostat with magnet. The purpose of the tender is to purchase a cryogen free dilution cryostat with magnet. The system is to be used for experiments at millikelvin temperatures for research in quantum electron transport at Niels Bohr Institute and its Center for Quantum Devices. The system will typically be used for electrical measurements on semiconductor quantum dots, nanowire devices and similar nano-electronic circuits. This tender is for the cryostat and magnet only; measurement equipment will be built in-house. The laboratory has already experience with dilution cryostats, cryogen-free cryostats, and superconducting magnets. The system should be of the cryogen-free design with extensive wiring for electrical measurements (incl. high frequency coax lines), space for low-temperature electronics/filtering, a mechanism for rapid sample exchange, and a two- or three-axis ('vector rotate') magnet. The cryostat is expected to operate with a base temperature around 10 mK while also allowing temperature dependences at higher temperatures. The measurements will not dissipate any significant power at low temperature. Frequent sample exchanges are necessary but extended measurement series (months) are also expected. The field of the multi-axis magnet is expected to be at least 3 T and 8 T in two orthogonal directions, respectively. CPV: 38000000, 38500000. ...

UK-Glasgow: system for recording attendance
Student Attendance and Engagement Monitoring System. Glasgow Caledonian University has identified a need for a contract for a Student Attendance & Engagement Monitoring System. The legal requirements to monitor student attendance are derived from external stakeholders, such as the UK Border Agency (UKBA) for students on Tier 4 Visas, and the Students' Award Agency for Scotland (SAAS). It is also a vital component of our student retention, academic support and pastoral care strategies in order that we can identify students who may require interventional support. The scope of the final solution will be to provide business processes, infrastructure and information applications support to meet GCU's external legal requirements and internal strategic and operational imperatives. It is intended that a solution is developed and implemented to provide 'automatic' electronic data that verifies students have been in attendance at scheduled classes and also records other relevant data relating to student engagement at the University. The closer the electronic verification can demonstrate that the student was involved in relevant learning activities the better. UK-Wakefield: transport equipment and auxiliary products to transportation
Provision of a two-person detainee cell. West Yorkshire Police operate their own vehicle preparation unit which builds and supplies cell vans for police use. West Yorkshire Police are seeking to appoint a provider to supply suitable detainee cells to fit into the current van conversion which is, at present, based on the Vauxhall Vivaro. The Authority reserves the right to vary the contract in line with regional and national requirements surrounding the base vehicle. The successful supplier will be expected to work in partnership with the Authority to supply suitable detainee cells for alternative vehicles throughout the duration of the contract. Exact quantities are unknown as this is a new procurement for the force, however early indications show a purchase of approximately 50 cells per annum would be a realistic estimate. It should be noted that all volumes and quantities referred to in this document are indicative estimates and in no way a guarantee of business or future commitment by the Authority. It is anticipated that the detainee cells offered will be resilient, robust and fit for their intended purpose. The vehicles the cells fit into have a life expectancy of approximately 3 years and it is therefore expected that the cells offered will be removed from the vehicle, repaired if necessary, and fit into a new vehicle. The Authority is therefore estimating that the cells will remain fit for purpose for a minimum of 5 to 6 years with repairs and refurbishments on wear and tear components. CPV: 34000000. ...
