In January 2010 the Ministry of Education and Research (KD) gave Statsbygg the task of planning the internal renovation of Bergen museum (natural history museum) located at Musèplassen 3 in Bergen. The building has a net area of approx. 7 100 m2. The total gross area is approx. 10 050 m2. The building is, in the Ministry of Education and Research's proposal for the country protection plan, proposed listed in protection class 1. This involves both the exterior, interior and outdoor installations. The building shall therefore be treated as listed. Emphasis is put on the fact that the building is a main work from the historical style period in Norway and it is the centre of the museum history. The building has a high architectonic value and stands as authentic.
