The Contractor shall provide the Grounds and Gardens Maintenance Service for NHS Portsmouth for the sites St James' Hospital and St Mary's Hospital on a scheduled and reactive basis, as required to meet the Service Standards of the Specification. One of the 2 sites is a psychiatric hospital which presents a unique set of challenges for which the successful supplier would provide reassurance of competence in working in such an environment. To provide a Grounds & Gardens Maintenance Service that is responsive to seasonal weather and growing conditions which may include: (a) Maintain an aesthetically pleasing landscape that is both functional and complementary to the Trust Site and local environment throughout the year. (b) Provide a standard of service that helps to provide a positive image of the Trust. (c) Liaising with various neighbours and other contractors such as tree surgeons, security and works dept. (d) Maintaining the Grounds & Gardens to facilitate the smooth and safe running of core Trust operations including ensuring access to the units at all times where indicated in the schedule. Including being based on site utilising existing allocated buildings. (e) Maintaining the Grounds & Gardens in such a way as to promote a positive image of the Trust to all Service Users, Visitors and Staff. (f) Support green issues e.g composting on site and using the compost, minimum travel miles (g) Provide leaf clearance all year not just autumn weekly sweeps on drives. (h) Provide a winter works team on site to carry out extra works and clearances. (i) Maintain a sensory garden for the benefits of the patients and wider community, maintaining links with special needs schools and mainstream access for work experience. (j) An understanding of Corporate Social Responsibility and potential 3rd sector partnership.
