Total renovation and alteration of SHKS to new sixth form college. Oslo Municipality c/o Undervisningsbygg Oslo KF invite companies to a tender competition for the total renovation and alteration of the former Statens håndverks- og kunstindustriskole (Oslo National Academy of the Arts, hereafter SHKS) to new School of Arts and Crafts Sixth Form College. The property is situated in the centre of Oslo, close to the Catholic Church, St. Olavs plass and Vår frelsers gravlund (churchyard). The building was completed in 1903 as Kunst og håndverksskole (School of Arts) and Kunstindustrimuseum (Applied Arts Museum, hereafter KIM). A reconstruction was completed just before the war. Around 1980, the right wing was extended on two floors and a new elevator was installed in the back. Despite some modifications, the building still stands out as very authentic - even inside. The entire building that houses SHKS in Ullevålsveien 5 is listed. This places great demands on the monitoring of both the demolition, excavation and construction. SHKS share a building with KIM and the project will partially affect KIM in some shared border areas. The work is expected to be divided into three main phases; 1st phase is emptying and clearing of the building 2nd phase is excavation, including the necessary concrete work, and 3rd phase is the main enterprise. The project seeks to maintain the current demands on universal design, technical standards and environmental considerations, within the limits given by conservation interests, the existing volume of buildings and building structure. The building's approximately 14,500 m2 is distributed on 7 floors from G2 to 5th floor. The floors/areas shall be cleared and emptied. Ground floors are mainly due to be removed and the ground under shall be lowered because of alum shale. In addition, an investigation is carried out for an excavation of the grounds at the back of approximately 400 m2, for a potential new auditorium and ballroom below ground level. The outdoor areas are very limited. The extent of the workload will vary greatly between different rooms and floors. In some areas the construction comprises a workshop, a forge and box-in-box rehearsal rooms for loud instruments, and in other areas the construction work will be minimal. Key numbers: 11-13 school years. Total area: existing approx. 14 500 m2 total gross area. New school approx. 14 900 m2 total gross area. Numbers of pupils and employees: Approx. 780 pupils and approx. 100 employees. Planned construction start: Autumn 2012. Planned project completion: Summmer 2014. The work is expected to be divided into three main phases; 1st phase is emptying and clearing of the building 2nd phase is excavation, including the necessary concrete work, and 3rd phase is the main enterprise and technical enterprises. Co-ordination will be the responsibility of the main contractor. CPV: 45000000. ...
