General bridge maintenance in Hedmark and Oppland 2012-2013. Statens vegvesen Region Øst (National Road Administration, Region East) is responsible for bridge maintenance on state roads and county roads in Østfold, Akershus, Oslo, Oppland and Hedmark. In connection with this work the award authority requests tenders from qualified contractors for general maintenance of the bridges in Hedmark and Oppland. The total number of bridges in these counties are about 1 880, of which approx. 880 are situated in Hedmark, and approx. 1 000 are situated in Oppland. The work comprises small maintenance assignments. Work comprising more substantial maintenance work on individual bridges will be published as separate contracts. The assignments will vary and include, in addition to general maintenance, works of the more acute character due to, for instance, floods and collisions. The work includes groove repairs, replacement of joints, repair stock, concrete repairs, minor cover repairs, corrosion protection, replacement and repair of rail, water, sewage, major concrete work because of flood damage, repairs due to erosion, stream conversion etc. The work shall be performed as required by award authority. Due to the varied assignments, several of the measures shall be carried out as billing work. Hourly rate for crews and equipment will therefore play a major role in the tender documents/forms. It is very difficult to describe the work in detail. The quantities specified in D1 is based on experience from previous contracts and expected maintenance. The stated quantities are very uncertain, and are based on estimated quantities for two years. Recognition of bridges shall be based on bridge numbers. It is desired that the contractor takes an active role in the bridge maintenance and the reporting of any damage observed when travelling on assignments. Such damage must be reported immediately.
