UK-Oxford: environmental training services
Provision of an Environmental Education Service for Oxfordshire. Oxfordshire County Council is continually seeking to reduce the amount of household waste that is sent to landfill. Landfill is the least environmentally friendly form of waste disposal and the EU Landfill Directive places decreasing limits on the amount of waste that may be land filled by member states. National legislation and policy measures such as Landfill tax and the Landfill Allowance Trading Scheme are increasing the cost of landfill, making other waste management options such as recycling and waste prevention more attractive. Oxfordshire currently has two environmental education programmes (that include buses), which provide environmental educational support for Oxfordshire schools. They are known as the Wild Waste Show, which focuses on waste reduction and recycling and the Energy Bus, which focuses on raising awareness of climate change issues, helping children to understand how they can reduce their energy consumption at school and at home. The educational programmes and buses are currently run by the Earth Trust, a local Non Governmental Organisation (NGO). The Wild Waste Show bus is funded by Oxfordshire Waste Partnership (a partnership of the Oxfordshire County and District Councils) and the Energy Bus is funded by Oxfordshire County Council. Schools do not have to pay for visits but donations are welcome. Oxfordshire County Council owns the Energy Bus and will retain it as an asset throughout the duration of the contract. Oxfordshire County Council wishes to procure Services to deliver waste and energy education programmes, maintaining and building upon the work of the current programmes. The programmes may either be delivered separately as at present, or combined as a single environmental education service. CPV: 80540000. ...
