UK-Carlisle: safety education services
Bikeability Cumbria. Cumbria County Council has bid successfully for Bikeability (or National Standards) funding since it first became available 5 years ago. On average we train around 3 500 young people to Bikeability Levels 1 & 2 each year. We supplement these numbers with a parallel volunteer instructor scheme which results in a high level of provision for Year Groups 5, 6 and 7. Cumbria has just been given notice that it will receive further funding to train at least 3 500 young people to Levels 1 & 2 in financial year 2012-13, plus another amount of funding to train around 200 young people to Level 3. DfT have told Cumbria that if the next financial year`s training is successful, Cumbria County Council will progress to the next year`s award of a 3 year funding scheme (similarly, the second and third years). UK-Liverpool: hotel construction work
Hotel development and operation at Kings Dock, Liverpool, UK. Liverpool City Council are developing a new exhibition centre, known as Exhibition Centre Liverpool (ECL), which will have 8 100 square metres of in hall space plus support, circulation and servicing areas. The ECL will be adjacent to and will provide exhibition and event space to work alongside the successful BT Convention Centre and Echo Arena. ECL is planned to open during the early part of 2015. The Council are planning to include an interconnected high quality hotel of up to 200 rooms as part of the project. The Council are seeking to appoint an investment and operating partner to specify, operate, own, and potentially finance and develop, the hotel. The hotel is planned to open in 2015, as close to the opening date for ECL as possible.
