The contract will include: Using the nearest neighbour impact assessment method (methodology as per Forest Practice Note 1: www.forestresearch.gov.uk/PDF/fcpn1.pdf/$FILE/fcpn1.pdf) to assess approximately 175 coupes of year 1 commercial forest restocks or new plantings per year. Assess Estimated Deer Usage (EDU) using the methods outlined in Forestry Commission Bulletin 128 "Estimating deer abundance in woodland: the combination plot technique". Approximately 8-10 Deer Management Units (DMUs) to be assessed each year. Further analysis and interpretation of the data collected from the above surveys to inform operational deer management will be required at times during the period of the contract.
