The contracting authority is looking to modernise the facilities at its fire stations to provide staff with furniture that will meet the needs of both the daytime and night time working patterns. In order to do this the contracting authority has a requirement for a resting device which is a reclining chair type piece of furniture which can be used for reclining during periods of rest, rather than the current approach of providing beds. The reclining chair must have lumbar support for users and be capable of being transformed into a reasonably flat and horizontal platform for resting on during night time stand down periods. The reclining chair must be to the right dimensions to fit the 95th percentile man or be adaptable to meet those dimensions. The width of the reclining chair for resting upon shall enable an individual to move with ease.
