Bothnian Sea Hydrographic Survey. The Hydrographic Offices at Finnish Transport Agency and Swedish Maritime Administration (later Buyers) intend to place an order/orders according to the EU restricted procedure on a hydrographic survey work, to be performed in the survey season 2011. Finnish Transport Agency (later FTA) will conduct the procurement for both Buyers in accordance to Finnish law. Multibeam Echo Sounder (MBES) System Hydrographic Survey on shipping routes is to be performed in later specified areas in the Bothnian Sea, which is located in the northern part of the Baltic Sea. The preliminary survey area is indicated on the chart extract (as appendix 1: "Preliminary survey area") with following approximate chart limits (geographical coordinates): Lower left corner: φ 59° 40' N, λ 016° 50'E – upper right corner: 63° 45' N, 022° 40'E. Comprehensive MBES survey of the area is critical for the efficient routing and safe navigation of all types of shipping especially with regards to deep draught shipping. The results of this survey will be used in updating nautical charts and associated navigational publications. The survey area is within Finnish EEZ and Swedish EEZ, varying bottom topography, typically depths 50–130 metres, partly also down to 200 m, and occasionally up to about 9 m of water depth. No surveys will be conducted within territorial waters of Finland or Sweden. A coherent survey area is requested as a result, starting at the Southern end of the Bothnian Sea.
