Provision of Leadership for Equality, Transition Master Classes Prograsmme 2011-2012. Scope of Work. The work being tendered builds on a major element of the Leadership for Equality Strategy which is designed to build a diverse talent pipeline. Leadership for Equality builds on the National Leadership Council's Inclusion strategy and sitting firmly within this is the National Breaking Through initiative working as an enabler to give staff from diverse backgrounds the opportunity to develop their careers and successfully obtain senior positions across the NHS. The business case for a diverse workforce in the NHS, especially at senior level is overwhelming; we have a diverse population with differing needs, having a diverse workforce at all levels of the NHS is seen as an effective way of ensuring patients from all backgrounds receive the services they need. The NHS Institute is looking to run a series of master classes to support and retain existing BME leaders to sustain and if possible increase the prevalence of representation at senior levels in the NHS. Bidders may submit to deliver on all or part of the programme of work, and they are encouraged to clearly describe how they might work with participants to provide a coherent programme that enables and support their careers. When considering the delivery of these interventions, bidders should ensure that their involvement will: — demonstrate past experience in delivering development interventions to existing BME leaders prior to and during the current transition of change in the nhs or other public sector organisations, — be value for money, — be innovative and creative, — develop people that feel confident about their ability to perform successfully in the workplace, — give them the knowledge and experience they need through learning that is stretching, challenging, supportive and engaging, — introduce technical and theoretical as well as personal elements into the learning, — enable participants to think strategically about the nhs and other sectors, — ensuring they are fully equipped for the rigours of a rapidly changing NHS and understand the importance of delivery, — highlight the importance of political astuteness and awareness, — help ensure participants remain engaged and enthusiastic about the process of change and their future careers and the nhs, — equip participants with a tool kit of key transferable skills, — guide to where to get more information and support, — provide guidance on finding peer support and enabling networking opportunities, — challenge on personal and group levels, — encourage active participation and engagement aligned to health, — provide translation of national initiatives to the implementation stage locally, — adaptable content that can quickly reflect emerging and topical issues. Please note: As the above requirement is classified as a Part B service ("Education and vocational health services"), it is not subject to the full EU regulations that would require a formal OJEU procedure to be followed. The Requirement. The ITT documentation provides more information regarding the master class topics being tendered. Programme Outcomes. Supported by their organisations and the SHA, applicants will be able to choose from a menu of master classes according to assessment of their personal and professional needs. On completion of any one master classes/programmes, the participants should have: — a clear understanding of the topic, — a clear understanding of how the topic relates to the role and behaviours of an NHS leader, — opportunity and /or direction to practice and develop the relevant skills, — an action plan/strategy to achieve success.
