UK-Stafford: generators
Replacement of Two Standby Generators at the Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trusts Stafford Hospital site, Weston Rd, Stafford, Staffs. ST16 3SA. Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust requires works to be carried out in respect of the replacement of the standby generators (Qty x 2) and associated control gear at the Trusts Stafford Hospital (Weston Road, Stafford, Staffs, UK, ST16 3SA). The contract shall cover the supply and installation of two 1 250 kVA standby generators to replace the existing 650 kVA generators. As well as replacement of the generators the contract shall cover the replacement of the attenuation, exhaust systems, fuel storage, batteries and control panels. The generators and ancillary items are currently located within a generator room. The existing generating facilities are to be stripped out and all waste disposed of in line with NHS directives. The contract shall cover the provision of temporary standby generation to ensure that the existing level of power supply back up is maintained for the duration of the works. The generator coupling panel and cabling will require upgrading to accommodate the increased size of the standby generators. This panel shall allow connection of temporary standby generators using existing external connection boxes and shall allow the alteration of the standby generator supply configuration. As part of the increase in the generator capacity the hospital will have a fully backed up power supply rather than an essential and non-essential basis. This will be achieved by the replacement as part of the contract of the existing main 1600A ACB incomer with a new mains incomer and new generator incomer in an auto-changeover arrangement with a mechanical and electrical interlock. All works shall be in accordance with the IEE 17th Edition wiring regulations incorporating the July 2011 amendments and Health Technical Memorandum specification 06-01.
