Croydon has a population of 340 000, the largest population of all the London Boroughs. There is a diverse ethnic mix – 36 % of the population are from ethnic groups other than "white British". Over 100 languages are spoken and there are a significant number of refugees and asylum seekers. There are approximately 14 000 Council homes. Of these, approximately 8 500 are flats and 5 500 are houses and bungalows. There are approximately 1 125 blocks of flats. Scope of the service. — The service can be broken down into two categories o Responsive o Planned block treatment, — Provision of rat eradication service to all Croydon residents, — Provision of an emergency "out of hours" service, covering weekends and public holidays, with a four hour on-site response time.
