IRL-Lifford: road construction works
N15 Blackburn bridge phase 1. The N15 Blackburn bridge phase 1 road scheme involves the construction of approximately 2.4 km of standard single carriageway (type 1 single S2) on the N15 national primary route in County Donegal, between Ballybofey and Donegal town, commencing at the bottom of McGroary's Brae. The route traverses predominantly rural countryside in County Donegal and shall, generally be of online construction with some greenfield locations to improve existing alignment. The existing landscape of the area is characterised generally as flat topography with intensively farmed with small to medium sized fields and dense conifer plantations. There are areas of soft ground along the proposed alignment, Meenagarranroe bog is situated to the west of the southern tie-in. The site of the works is located in a rural agricultural area, to the Southwest and South of Ballybofey, Co. Donegal. the Burn Daurnett River which runs adjacent to the N15 flows into the River Finn which is a candidate special area of conservation (CSAC), downstream of Ballybofey. The contract shall comprise the execution and completion of the N15 Blackburn bridge phase 1, including without limitation the provision of: — Approximately 2.4 kilometres of standard single carriageway national primary road, — Localised realignment of single carriageway local roads, — 1 No. principal bridge structure, together with all other Structures necessary as part of the works, — Various direct accesses and access tracks, — Various chambers and ducting works to be undertaken at various locations within the site including those suitable for use by the authorities, utilities and service providers and private utility services, — Various landscape, environmental and mitigation works, — Various culverting and re-alignment of river streams and the provision of drainage outfalls, — Various fencing, safety barrier systems and drainage works, — Various signing works, — Various earthwork works, including in areas of very soft ground, — Various works including diversions of the assets of the authorities, utilities and service providers and private utility services, — Various accommodation works including accesses to properties and lands; and, — Various ancillary works. UK-Swansea: earthmoving work
Construction of the primary infrastructure for the Felindre Strategic Business Park and targeted recruitment and training. 2.1.1 The former tin plate works at Felindre, Swansea is to be developed, in a joint venture between the Council and Welsh Government, into an exemplar Strategic Business Park comprising 12 individual plots, currently phased in 2 parts: phase 1 – plots 1 to 8 and phase 2 – plots 9 to 12 (see drawing 3511376A-HHC/023). This PQQ and the subsequent ITT documentation form part of the process of appointing a contractor to construct the primary infrastructure for the Business Park site; 2.1.2 The Tinplate Works was decommissioned in 1989 and demolished in 1996 with reclamation and remediation works undertaken in 1998/1999. In 2007, a development framework and design code document was prepared as a condition of the planning approval for the site. The preliminary and detailed design, from which the primary infrastructure will be constructed, has been developed in accordance with this document; 2.1.3 The full scheme (phases 1 and 2) will broadly consist of the following works: — Residual site clearance and ecological mitigation measures, — Earthworks re-profiling across the site to formation level in readiness for the development of individual plots, including the stripping and storage of existing topsoil for reuse. This may include some contaminated land remediation work and handling of bio-remediated material, — Management of invasive weed growth, including Japanese Knotweed, in areas that are part of the earthworks re-profiling, — Handling of fly tipped asbestos material including disposal of it in an appropriate manner, — The construction of the business park primary access road, associated surface water drainage, road signs, markings and street lighting, along with footways across the site, — The diversion of existing and construction of new utility services to serve the development plots i.e. gas, water, electricity, BT and cable foul and surface water drainage, — The construction of the new southern access section of road between the proposed access road and the proposed stopping up of the Felindre Road, — Associated services to serve the new Southern Access from the Felindre Road i.e. utilities, street lighting and drainage, — The diversion of the existing watercourse running north to south (together with the affluent watercourse that runs from the west to east and some smaller streams that feed into the existing watercourse). The watercourse will be diverted to the western boundary of the site, — Accommodation works in associated with the above works. It is estimated that the total value of the full scheme identified in 2.1.3 above i.e. plots 1 to 12, to be in the region of 5 800 000 GBP. The current available budget however is approximately 4 800 000 GBP, which is anticipated as the minimum which will allow re-profiling of the whole site and delivery of Phase 1 i.e. fully serviced and accessed plots 1-8. The client wishes to maximise the works possible within the available budget. Competitive tendering may allow additional works to be brought forward in addition to Phase 1 (i.e. plots 9-12). The client is also seeking additional funding, although there is no certainty that this will be successful.
