Lot 1 - acquisition of environmental and historical information (year 1): the successful service provider for lot 1 must deliver the following outcomes: Outcome 1: complete the register of parks, gardens and demesnes of special historical interest for Northern Ireland; Outcome 2: complete the gazetteer of historic nucleated/urban settlement for Northern Ireland (the GHNUS Project); Outcome 3: deliver sound, timely, professionally-informed advice about the historic environment, planning policies and site-specific land-use zonings as required at all stages of Strategic Spatial Plans, as per the agreed NIEA-planning service - service level agreement; Lot 2: Development Management Consultation (Years 1 & 2): the successful Service Provider for Lot 2 must deliver the following outcome; Outcome 4: process development management consultations in accordance with the NIEA Planning Service SLA; Lot 3: acquisition of information on the historic environment (year 2). The successful service provider for lot 3 will be required to provide information on the following subject matters. Areas of significant archaeological interest. The work intended here will involve a review of the existing designated Areas of Significant Archaeological Interest (ASAIs) in Northern Ireland, and to evaluate future 'candidate' sites. This review will include the preparation of a report about the archaeological features and recorded built heritage assets within the existing ASAIs, their general state of preservation, the relationship between the various sites, and a report on the outcomes of planning applications within the ASAIs over the past 15 years. Historical burial grounds and graveyards in Northern Ireland. The work intended here will include an overview of the previously recorded archaeological resource of church sites, burial grounds and graveyards in Northern Ireland with a view to quantifying current or anticipated pressures on them, Including pressures for new built or infrastructural development to the need for new or expanded areas of graveyards. The focus of attention will be the likely impacts on the archaeological resource, but also taking into account funerary architecture, historic buildings or structures associated with these sites, and existing land-use zonings. Greenfield, Brownfield and sites of energy production. There are three strands to this work area, each of which may develop into areas of focused data collection and description to inform future risks and management issues for: areas zoned as "Greenfield" development land within settlement limits; the heritage impacts, particularly on industrial heritage, of zoned "Brownfield" land within settlement limits, and; a quantification of sites of industrial heritage in Northern Ireland that were previously used in energy production, or which provided power to associated industrial complexes, such as the mill-ponds that fed water-powered mills, with a view to quantifying the potential candidate sites for future local energy production. Recreational landscapes – pilot study. Following on from the register of parks, gardens and demesnes of special historical interest for Northern Ireland, this work area is intended to be a quantification specifically of those areas of sport and recreation that have resulted in significant changes to the landscape, either through their design, their management, or the social and historical associations that are attached to them.
