UK-Sheffield: industrial machinery
131/MVT Automated fibre placement (AFP) Head The University of Sheffield's Advanced manufacturing research centre wishes to procure a four tow Automated fibre placement (AFP) Head which will mount to an existing robotic arm AFP system. The current technology available is seen as overly complex and inhibiting when considering the design of high fidelity components. A more simplified and capable system is required. The facility is required to build complex composite components with intricate male and female geometries constructed from multi ply carbon or glass fibre prepreg materials. We currently employ a 12 x 1/8th tow head for AFP work. We require a 4 x 1/4" tow head to give greater flexibility. The AMRC AFP facility utilises a number of removable heads that fit onto a Kawasaki robot which operates within an Automated Dynamics control system. The new head must act in the same manner and integrate with the existing system. This is a two stage procurement advertised through the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU) using the Accelerated restricted procedure in accordance with the UK Public Contracts Regulations (2006). Prices for this procurement will be requested in the ITT document set (second stage). The closing date for return of pre-qualification questionnaires is 12 noon on 19.8.2011. Questionnaires must be obtained and returned through the University's e-tendering portal https://in-tendhost.co.uk/Sheffield. CPV: 42000000, 42600000, 42900000, 43700000. ...

UK-Derby: miscellaneous health services
Adult Drug & Young Persons Substance Misuse Services – Derby City. Derby is the third-largest city in the East Midlands with a population of about 244 000 people. There are an estimated 1 970 problematic drug users living in Derby; this number has remained static for a number of years with circa 86 % of these having at least one treatment episode. The current contracts for adult drug and young person's substance misuse services (let by NHS Derby City) are due to terminate on 31.3.2012. NHS Derby City wishes to secure new contracts for the period 2012–2015. This is timely, as the change in Government has brought about a new strategic direction for substance misuse treatment – recovery and reintegration, outcome focused interventions that ensure treatment effectiveness is maximised (by achieving client recovery within an evidence-based 2.4 years). Between December 2010 – February 2011 a consultation process was undertaken to inform the future service design of Derby's Young Person Substance Misuse and Adult Drug Treatment services. Key local priorities echoed those of the 2010 HM Government National Drug Strategy: — being drug free, — safeguarding and hidden harm, — access to employment and education, — rehabilitating offenders. Adult Drug Treatment. There is no single one sized fits all pathway to recovery owing to the wide differences in need amongst service users. New treatment models will strive to support a recovery orientated treatment system ensuring treatment has a start, middle and end focussing on maximising recovery capital across the domains of: — substance use, — psychological health, — physical health, — community involvement, — social support, — meaningful activities, — housing & safety, — risk taking, — coping and life functioning, — recovery experience. Some components of recovery capital will be lead directly by treatment services and interventions directly commissioned by the substance misuse team whilst other domains will require the continued development of links with local partners in maximising recovery potential. Young Person Substance Misuse. By applying national statistics to Derby it is possible to estimate the potential need for substance misuse services across Derby: — around 845 of young people have tried class A heroin and crack, — around 2 442 of young people have tried other class A drugs, — around 9 174 of young people have tried cannabis, — around 12 931 of young people have tried alcohol, — around 1 903 of young people have tried other substances. The Public Health White paper and outcomes framework 2010 aims to strengthen young people's ability to take control of their lives within clear boundaries, and help reduce young peoples susceptibility to the harmful influences of drugs and alcohol by providing a tailored approach service that responds to the needs, age and vulnerability of the young person, and particularly targets at-risk groups. The government's Drug Strategy 2010 reducing Demand, Restricting Supply, Building Recovery: supporting people to live a drug free life promotes a recovery led approach to help people rebuild their lives. It recognises that young people's drug use is a distinct problem. Nationally (as is locally), cannabis and alcohol are the most common substances used and it is therefore important the young person's service is configured and resourced to respond to these particular needs and to offer the right support as early as possible. For those young people whose drug or alcohol misuse has already started to cause harm, or who are at risk of becoming dependent, they will have rapid access to specialist support that tackles their drug and alcohol misuse alongside any wider issues that they face., working towards integrating and including the young person in their family, community, school or place of work.
