UK-Southampton: installation services of line telephony equipment
Telephony Replacement Project. The University is looking to replace its current ISDX telephony infrastructure with a modern communications solution that will not only meet the immediate needs of the University but also enable the development of a full Unified Communications solution in the future with integration into other University applications and business processes. The solution will eventually replace the two current systems installed within the campus and the third installed at Warsash (Warsash Maritime Academy). The purchase of the new system will be spread over three financial years 2011-2012, 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 (the financial year starts in August). Suppliers will be expected to produce an implementation plan that will meet this requirement of separate payments on a staged basis. Suppliers should identify any specific educational discounts offered. The current telephony is based on Siemens ISDX utilising TDM technology interconnected be 2Mbit DPNSS with the exception of the Link to Warsash which is an IP link in total these serve around 1 140 extensions of which 160 are shared. The University also operates a VIPTelephonetics solution which provides voicemail and voice recognition for directory services it is expected that this would be retained as part of any new solution. Management of the solution is via Softex DX Pro which provides a GUI interface and Tiger call logging which is also expected to be retained and upgraded. PSTN connectivity is provided via a variety of ISDN, analogue and premicells for mobile calls. In addition to the main sites there are a number of smaller sites that have individual systems installed. The current data network includes an Enterasys LAN and wireless network (designed for data use) with some PoE switches at the edge Desktops are currently Windows XP (85 %) migrating to Windows 7 and Apple Macs (15 %) running OS X. Email is based on IBM Lotus Notes (release 8.5). Directory services are provided by both Novell eDirectory and Microsoft's Active Directory. Smart metering. The Trust is undertaking an efficiency review programme, which includes the efficient, transparent and cost-effective 'smart metering' of gas, electricity, water, steam and air temperature. The main objectives are to improve efficiency and to produce financial savings. The Trust site at New Cross Hospital currently has a smart metering system for electricity only, but this needs to be expanded across the site and to Pond Lane Renal Unit, to include the meter types indicated above. The current system has a total of 60 meter channels reading 46 actual meters on the New Cross site. The new system will be comprised of a total of 130 new meters, including were necessary, circa 80 panel meters. For suppliers short-listed to the tender stage, a site visit will be arranged for the 4th October, to provide the suppliers the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the site.
