Enterprising Newcastle. Enterprising Newcastle (EN) is the successor to the Newcastle Enterprise Package (NEP), which was fundedby the European Regional Development Fund 2007-2013 and Newcastle City Council, due to come to an end in June 2011. Newcastle City Council (NCC) has identified within it's budget, resources to deliver a 2 year programme of activity which will build upon the successes of (NEP). The intention is to match these resources with funding from the European Regional Development Fund. (ERDF) Programme 2007 - 2013. A final decision on our ERDF bid is not expected before September 2011. The Programme will be a community based package of enterprise support activities aimed at improving entrepreneurship levels in the most disadvantaged areas in the city. As such, NCC is seeking providers across a number of disciplines to assist with the delivery of these activities. This programme will enable NCC to put in place a panel of preferred providers to deliver a diverse range of pre-start and start-up activities and specialist business support services. Some of these providers will deliver services for the duration of the programme, whilst some may offer shorter, time limited pieces of work as required. The likely delivery timetable is expected to start from September 2011 through to August 2013. However, this start date will depend upon the certification of ERDF funding. It must be noted that no contracts will be given prior to this funding being secured. Therefore, all submissions will be developed at risk. NCC reserve the right not to award or to vary any estimate of value on the basis of ERDF funding award outcomes. The activities that are being commissioned fall within 3 key themes under which will be 5 lots. NCC will be inviting organisations to make submissions to deliver against the activities identified within these lots. Organisations may wish to be considered to deliver against any number of lots across one or more of the themes. The themes and lots are: Theme A - entrepreneurial young people. Lot 1 – enterprise in education. Theme B - business pre-start and start-up. Lot 2 – business pre-start-up and start-up. Lot 3 - small enterprise loan fund.
