The National Library of Norway (the Awarding Authority) is the nation's safe keeper of its cultural heritage and a knowledge multimedia centre. The library's depository has at its hand the nation's most complete collections of Norwegian documents published throughout the years. The collections cover the whole range of different media types, ranging from paper documents, via moving images, to various electronic media types. Moreover, the collections also contain unpublished objects of essential cultural-historical significance. As the only national library in Europe, the National Library of Norway is aiming at digitizing all its collections over the next 10-15 years. The National Library of Norway is headed by the National Librarian, who has the leading responsibility for planning, operating and developing the library's activities. The library is located in Oslo and Mo i Rana, and has approximately 450 employees, organized into 4 special departments and 3 staff units.
