The primary application of the system will be the simulation of multi-scale, multi-physics cardiovascular models representing specific clinical cases. Typically, these models require the coupling of very different mesh resolutions using both monolithic and partitioned coupling approaches - converged resolutions requiring large (upwards of 30 million) degrees of freedom. This requires significant chip memory (> 2TB) accessible by all processes to efficiently parallelise the heterogeneous set of equations. Currently, to run these models in the clinical workflow this requires more that 256 processors. This type of application requires a highly flexible, scalable and easy to manage supercomputer able to support a minimum 4TB of shared memory in single system image. Allso a minimum of 384 cores based on Intel Xeon processors (preferably scalable to 512 and more, still within a single system image). Storage subsystem. Systems training.
