Against the background of forthcoming mandated regulatory change, Bord Gáis Éireann has completed a preliminary review of its operating structure with a view that its networks business be further unbundled from its energy business, and operated independently. There are currently a number of unbundling operating model options under consideration for Bord Gáis Éireann. These options will have significant implications for Bord Gáis at multiple levels; E.g. all unbundling options preclude the sharing of services such as HR, Legal, IT, etc. and in addition, corporate governance structures and relationships will need to be adapted to fit the new ownership structures. Bord Gáis Éireann must now consider how best to organise itself to achieve its stated strategic objectives to: — Outperform regulatory expectations, — Become the leading energy supplier on the Island, — Achieve sustainable balance sheet growth.
