Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council and its partners are looking to contract with an organisation to provide a drugs and alcohol recover and reintegration service. We are committed to reducing substance misuse related harm in Tameside and Glossop by supporting people who misuse drugs and alcohol to change so that these substances no longer have a detrimental effect on their lives or those of their families and friends. We commission a range of services that work together across the spectrum of prevention to recovery delivering a range of interventions that enable service users to become free from alcohol and drug harms. The drugs and alcohol recovery and re-integration service will support service users to overcome dependency so they acheive and manage abstinence. They will work with service users to enable them to acheive a positive outcome of successful and positive long-term changes to lifestyles. They will work with Service Users to develop personalised holistic plans that will support recovery, identifying levers and barriers to change, strenghening motivation and equipping service users to be able to sustain a positive lifestyle. Working in partnership with other service providers within the drugs & alchol service they will ensure service users are able to take up the treatment opportunities available to them. As well as linking with other statutory, independent and voluntary agencies in Tameside and Glossop to ensure other needs are met e.g. providing support to access; food, housing, health care, education, work and training opportunities and activity based and basic lifestyle courses; providing assistance to maintain effective relationships, family and parenting. The service will involve peer mentors building the ongoing capacity with the community to support long-term abstinence. The successful provider will work with adults (aged 18 plus) who are misusing substances or who are drug free but need additional recovery support. Service users may be referred by other partners, through the criminal justice system or by self referral. The provider will also provide assertive outreach into services and the community that will engage with those who are treatment naive and resistant and those in transition from prison back into the community. The provider will need to understand local services, the criminal justice system, be accessible, flexible and have an understanding of diverse needs and offer volunteering opportunities within the service. The contract is planned to run for a period of 3 years commencing on 1.2.2012 subject to continued available funding and satisfactory service delivery (with the option to extend for a period of upto 2 years). A maximum first year contract price of 165 000 GBP is budgeted to deliver this service.
